A couple of weeks ago I ordered two photo etch sets for the 1:72 Focke Wulf and the Mustang. I didn’t actually think they would still arrive, but they did. So now my issue is … keep building the FW190 and get a second one just to be able to build the cockpit or dismantle the one I have. I could make some things better, but I could also damage a bit more … not sure about that one yet.

Surprise Arrival …
Wednesday, September 16th, 2009Waiting for paint: Sd.Kfz. 167 “Sturmgeschütz IV”
Sunday, August 23rd, 2009The pre-assembly of the model is finished, no it is waiting for a decent paint job.
Sd.Kfz. 167 “Sturmgeschütz IV” in 1:72 by Trumpeter
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009You have seen the box art already in my previous post, here you’ll find just a little round up of the different part sprues. For ease of production it seems that Trumpeter is giving you more parts than needed, see for example the wheels. During the build you need 18 but 24 are supplied. Additionally you’ll find that there are a couple of parts defined as “unused parts” by Trumpeter already in the instructions.
New Aquisitions – Trumpeter Triplets in 1:72
Friday, August 21st, 2009When I saw the prices of these three 1:72 scale Trumpeter kits I just had to get them. That’s why I call them the “Trumpeter Triplets”. As first one I have a M2A2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle, then a Sd.Kfz. 182 “King Tiger” with Porsche Turret and a Sd.Kfz. 167 “Sturmgeschütz IV”
Assembly finished for now on the T-80 B
Friday, August 21st, 2009But the main parts (chassis, body, turret and then some) are not fixed together. Just one remark for now … enjoy the images. Painting will commence at a later stage when I have the compressor for the airbrushes and some decent colours … maybe you would like to suggest some?
First steps on the T-80 B
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009Like I promised, here are the first of the construction images of the T-80 B. I started with the assembly and mock up of the turret and turret details. As you can see already, the fit of the parts is not the best. This continues around the front (gun) and rear as well. There is going to be quite a lot of filling sanding involved in this model.
P-51B Mustang
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009Together with the Focke Wulf I found this P-51B Mustang, also in 1:72 scale by Revell. Like the FW 190 this kit was completly sealed in box and didn’t cost much. Having had a look at the parts it seems to me that the forms weren’t as much used when this kit was produced as the Focke Wulf, since I didn’t spot as much flush like on the FW kit.
T-80 B Soviet Main Battle Tank in 1:72
Monday, August 10th, 2009OK, here it is … I bought a tank kit during the car boot sales. I just couldn’t pass by a kit for 0,50€ … could you? The Kit is sold by Matchbox in 1:72 scale. The actual manufacturer of this kit is Revell.
Focke Wulf Fw 19 A-8 /R-11
Saturday, August 8th, 2009It’s been a while since I have bought this Revell Kit of a 1/72 scale Focke Wulf Fw 190. It also has been a while that I built one … it was in my early teens.
This kit I bought again during one of our frequent visits to local car boot sales and, like usually, I didn’t pay much for it. Everything is completely packed and the parts are still sealed. The kit can be built to either represent a A-8 stationed in bad Aibling (south Germany) in 1945 or a A-8/R-11 stationed in Werneuchen (east Germany, around Berlin) in 1944. A profile of the 1944 A-8/R-11 from Werneuchen can be found here.
