Life Steam – Wilesco Lukas

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Last year during a a barbie doll fair (I am doing this stuff for my wife) I got an offer for an undefined life steam locomotive. I asked the seller to show it to me, since it was supposed to be quite a good price. Anyway, it turned out to be a fully equipped and upgraded Wilesco Lukas. Although the model was in an half assembled state the only thing I saw really needing replacement was the glass for the water level.

I first started on this model beginning of December last year, after I bought it. My first steps where to dismantle the model and clean it up. Since it was run already, there was some grime and even a little bit of rust in some areas which was no issue, since there was no colour whatsoever involved.I bought some special exhaust colour which is heat resistant in black and red. These where the colours used during the time when this model was run.

What I personally don’t like is the smoke box door … it is just flat … anybody knowing add on parts for it? Anyway, included in my purchase was already an upgraded burner. I’ll start a series about this little locomotive and how to build it up.

T-47 Snowspeeder in 1:72 by Fantastic Plastic

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Bought on E-Bay for a price you wouldn’t believe … anyway, this 1:72 scale kit by Fantastic Plastic is only a handful of a completed model, but can become a nice base for a little snow diorama. Fantastic Plastic has a page on their site dedicated to every model they produce, here is the 1:72 scale T47 Snowspeeder page.

Ford Focus WRC ’02 – Heller 1:24

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Since rally cars are my secret favourite in modern racing I also wanted to have one in my lineup for the slot car section of the blog. I got an inexpensive Heller Ford Focus WRC ’02 (Telefonica Design) to go with the Slotvision Mach 2 Chassis. I haven’t started doing anything with that one yet. I want to finish the Porsche 936-78 Twin Turbo and the King Cobra first.

Odo – Star Treck Deep Space 9

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Odo is the Security Chief of space station Deep Space 9 of the extended Star Trek Universe. This kit here is a 12″ (30cm) plastic kit by AMT/ERTL. Since it is completely wrapped I can not open it at this moment. But this also gives me the certainty that I will be dealing with a complete kit and not with bunch of loose parts.

Currently it is quite hard to find anything about this kit except of shopping sites. At least a couple of nice image slices can be seen here. I will get at least some original images of my box up shortly.

Porsche 908/3 Resin Kit

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

For quite some time now I was looking for a 1/24 scale Porsche 908/3 model. Finally I found a quite inexpensive resin slot car kit made by MNS. I got the kit of eBay for around €30,– including a driver figure.
