Lately …

Friday, February 12th, 2010

… I have been a bit lazy with this site. The reason for it is simple, I am creating content for my new site Mini-RC-Tutorials. Besides creating the content there is quite some other things to manage, especially getting the design ready.

The last year …

Friday, January 1st, 2010

… was very eventful, I think for everybody. Besides the all encompassing financial crisis a couple of traditional modelling companies went out of business and shook the world, mainly that of the model railway fans. But the sum ups are better left to other people.

Actionfigurado – 1/6th scale Modelling

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Actually on Saturday we where scheduled to go to the actionfigurado in Duiven (Nederlands) with my company Mini-Lifestyle but due to health reasons we can not attend. It is a shame, since we always liked the appearance there …

This event is about 12 inch Actionfigures but the people interested in those are quite often not only collectors but also large scale model builders. And you get to see some good stuff there as well. The website of the event has some images of the last years, so go and have a look.

Car Boot Sale again … yeah … and Fischer Technik

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Wow … what a weekend. Saturday I’ve been at a local car boot sale and brought bags of stuff (a couple of tank kits, a plane, a Billing Boat Kit …) and then afterwards I went with some friends of the Fischer Technik Club NL to a convention of the FTCommunity in Erbes-Büdesheim which was for the first time organised by Knobloch GmbH, a company dedicted to Fischer Technik.

I was most impressed by the large models … a crane made out of static parts, which was 3 times as tall as the builder D. Kutsch (easily!), a freefall rollercoaster and “flying Fischer Technik”. Thanks a lot folks for this nice day!

Moving the Blog to a new Domain

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Dear Readers,

I have decided to create a new domain for my Blog. With that also the name will change. The Name “Modelling Universe” was always meant to be a temporary name since I didn’t really have any idea for a name. That has changed now, the new Name will be: (more…)

no SW at FP anymore …

Sad news .. we gave Allen too much support by buying his cool Star Wars Kits. In his last newsletter he had to announce that:

On July 20, 2009, Fantastic Plastic received a “Cease & Desist” order from Lucas Film demanding the removal of all unlicensed products from our Website. In compliance, we have retired all “Star Wars”-related kits to the Virtual Museum Store “Hall of Fame.” We will no longer market or sell these or any other kits that fall under Lucas Film’s jurisdiction. If you have any questions about this situation, please feel free to write us at fantasticplast@aol.com.

original quote from the fantastic plastic newsletter July 2009 – do sign up!

I do encourage everyone who has had an interest in the Fantastic Plastic Kits to have a look at the other kits available. I especially like the current release “Bubble Fighter” in 1:48 scale but currently can not afford any more kits … the next post shows why.

FischerTechnik – modern technical modeling since 40 years

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Since I was a small boy I had FischerTechnik at home. FisherTechnik is a construction toy like Meccano (well known in the UK) or the old “Maerklin Metal” construction kits. So over the years I accumulated quite some of this stuff. Some month ago I found out that one of my neighbours is collecting and, more important, activly using Fischer Technik. Been over there a couple of times and today went to a meeting of the Fischer Technik Club Nederlands with him down in the area of Rotterdam.

Hi Folks, currently we are at the “Actionfigurado” in Duiven. It is mainly about military actionfigures and acessories, but some nice modelling can be seen here as well. Later on I will publish some pictures.
