Let me start this blog with a post about a recent gift from friends in the UK … for Christmas they sent me the Revell EasyKit “X-Wing Fighter“. This is a Kit intended for the beginner and does not require tools or glue. Still you can make a nice model in approx. 1/56th scale out of the kit.
Let me first of all show you some pictures of the ready assembled model:
As you can see in these images, there is a bit of work required to make this a really nice model. We will go from the “no tools required” approach of the original model to the full blown model building. Since this will not happen in a single day, I created the category “X-Wing”.
Tools and materials we will need:
- pliers / scalpel
- cutting board
- modelling glue
- sandpaper
- modelling kit
- colours and brushes
- airbrush (Optional!)
- masking tape
But you won’t need them all in a go. Since I started already by building the model, I had a go with the pliers already. I used them to roughly cut the parts from the spruce. I didn’t yet use the scalpel because I wanted to see, how good the kit is.
For this series of posts I will dismantle the ready model and then I will upgrade it to make it an even better model, than it is.
